WordArt
WordArt is my thesis project that focuses on enriching written content. We were briefed to explore the future of reading.
Books are a source of belonging, entertainment, and even a man’s companion. But, there is a huge majority of people in our world today who do not read books. Not because they don’t like to, but due to the fact that the format of the book isn’t the best. WordArt focuses on addressing this issue. It is a crowd sourcing platform for creating content to help make reading a more interesting, engaging and a more enriched experience.
"A whole section of the population isn't accessing books right now because they are not pleasurable to read"
- Dr Matthew Schneps, Astrophysicist from Harvard University

A brief overview of the system
Scenario on how the system could be used
The following is a brief scenario portraying how the two types of users of WordArt, Jake (the artist) and Emma (the reader) would use and reap the benefits of a system like this.

WordArt homepage
On the homepage of WordArt the user can view the popular and most pledged artwork that users are uploading for various written content.
Tools to add interactive elements to the created art
Once the artists create the art for a particular book, they have the ability to add media and make the artwork interactive. Thus making it a lot more engaging for the audience.
Exploring book wise artwork
When searching for artwork for a particular book, the user can explore artwork chapter wise and also filter through different types.
Viewing the artwork
When viewing the artwork, the user can scroll through the various interactive elements. If the user enjoyed the art he has the option to support the artist by pledging money everytime he releases some new work.
System overview
There are two main types of users in the system. The following diagram throws some light on how each of them uses WordArt.
Initial sketches and workflow
